The discussion began when a passenger posted online about an awkward encounter. While attempting to charge their phone, they were stopped by the passenger in the front seat, who claimed ownership of the outlet located directly behind them. This incident left the poster questioning the official protocol for using charging ports on trains.

To clarify the rules, a reporter consulted the national 12306 railway hotline. A staff member explained that there is no strict, formal allocation. "Charging ports on trains are located in different places—some are directly under the seats, and some are on the back of seats. Therefore, there is no clear rule about who they belong to," the representative stated.
The official guidance is that, under normal circumstances, any passenger can use them. If a dispute arises, travelers are advised to seek help from a train attendant for mediation. Should a direct agreement be impossible, the staff will assist the passenger in finding an available outlet elsewhere on the train.
